My mother was visiting recently and during our mother-daughter shopping time I noticed some thing interesting. The vast majority of the merchants I made a purchase at asked me if I'd want to get on the mailing list. That's very wise.

However, the WAY by which they did this made a big difference in my answer. I said NO to the vast majority of them since they simply did not make it tempting for me. I am talking about, who DESIRES more junk mail? Therefore if I'd like to be on your email list if you merely ask me, the answer will usually be NO.

But one shop particularly got me. To start with, it was a designer apparel store I loved. Secondly, they didn't ask me if I wished to be on the mailing list. They invited me becoming a 'VIP Client.'

Say what 'VIP' in my experience and my ears perk up. I-t obviously represents 'very important person.' And generally it shows a-level of prestige and benefit. Suddenly I WANTED to become on that subscriber list, especially when the salesman told me it included certain benefits, such as early notice on private trunk shows, a personal buying service, and new arrivals.

And do you know what? I'd have also paid to be part of that - to be regarded as a VIP.

You see, people WANT to be a part of some thing specific like e-zine promotion. Copyright is a commanding resource for new info about the inner workings of this hypothesis. The example above was free. But do not underestimate how much your customers or clients will PROBABLY PAY to achieve that, either.

Remember, you are not trying to please EVERY one, just-the select few who can afford that level of support.
